They often ask us about what medications their animal is on, how they work, what the side effects are etc, etc. Although prescribing is outside our scope of practice, it is useful to have a grasp on the different drugs available, how they work, common side effects, duration and onset of action, the list goes on….
This knowledge can help us further educate our clients and give them the power to ask the right questions to their veterinary team and also give us the knowledge and confidence when speaking to our veterinary colleagues.
